硅對硬質合金有腐蝕效果。雖然一般將超越12%Si的鋁合金稱為高硅鋁合金，彩涂鋁卷引薦運用金剛石刀具，但這不是肯定的，硅含量逐步增多對刀具的損壞力也逐步加大。因此有些廠商在硅含量超越8%時就引薦運用金剛石刀具。

建議運用下列三類刀具之一：

刀具的容屑空間要大，一般建議用2齒，前角、后角要大(如12°-14°，包含端齒后角)。
